Conducting bi-directional static load test when skin friction is lower than end bearing
2017-08-18

Different models of Super Cells and their embedment method are chosen to best fit different project conditions:

1. Burying the Super Cell at the pile toe allows for a dead load at the pile head to be installed, acting as an opposing force. Meanwhile, this makes the pile shaft skin friction and opposing force interact with the end bearing.

2. Choosing a smaller Super cell to obtain partial contact area with pile toe allows for skin friction to be completely supplied through the opposing force during testing. After testing, filling the gap created by Super Cell expansion with grout ensures the pile to be used as a working pile.
